About

My name is Lucas Bustinski, and I am a fourth-year journalism student at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) (formerly Ryerson), with a minor in public relations and an acceptance to a Master’s of Media Production at TMU. Throughout my time in the program, I have dedicated myself to honing my writing, reporting, and video production skills to do justice to every story I tell.

During the school year, I co-run the media section at The Eyeopener, Toronto Met’s student newspaper, where I tell stories that matter to students while also producing engaging content to boost interest in the publication’s written sections. I also run The B-Side, a Toronto-based music blog, which focuses on issues affecting the local music scene and shares the stories of dedicated artists working hard to grow the community. I write about how these musicians bring their bands to life in an increasingly competitive arena.

Outside of journalism, I have a passion for music. I’m a multi-instrumentalist, able to play bass, mandolin, drums, guitar, piano and the kalimba. I also enjoy collecting vinyl records—I love the idea of preserving and owning media in a physical format, as it helps build a deeper connection with the music that means so much to me.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, skateboarding, longboarding, working on personal video projects, and concert photography.
